Synthesize Light-Weight Insulating Refractory by Using Waste Aluminum Slag and Waste Polystyrene Plastic

Mullite light-weight insulating refractory was made by using waste aluminum slag and clay as raw materials, using polystyrene plastic as foam agent. The crystalline phase, microstructures and influence of polystyrene plastic content on the porosity, water absorption and bulk density were discussed. The results show that mullite and corundum are the two main crystalline phases. The best content for polystyrene plastic is 5.0%, the corresponding propertiy index is : bulk density 0.868g/cm^3, shrinkage 8.53%, beading strength 3. 10MPa
