Study on the Effect of Desulfurization and Removing Inclusions by Making Refining Slag Using Bauxite Instead of Fluorite

       In the study, the effect of bauxite instead of fluorite acting as flux in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-MgO refining slag on desulfurization 

efficiency was researched. The result shows bauxite replacing fluorite im-proves desulphurization efficiency. In a certain range, the 

addition of bauxite can reduce the con-tent of sulfur in liquid steel. When the CaO/SiO2 ratio ranges from 11 to 12, and the content

 of bauxite is 4% - 5%, the desulfurization effect is best and can reach more than 80%. Besides, the slag has better property of 

modifying and removing inclusions.
